The IVI RMA Research study, awarded

IVI RMAa group specialized in reproductive medicine, has announced that joint research with Juno Geneticsconducted with data from the Foundation for Embryonic Competence and RMA New Jersey, has won the award for Best Scientific Paper at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) 2025 Annual Congress and Exposition.

The study analyzed the reproductive potential of embryos with segmental aneuploidies, those in which chromosome fragments are missing or abundant, in order to determine how many of them can lead to a birth, thus providing useful information for doctors and patients when interpreting the results of the preimplantation genetic test for aneuploidies (PGT-A).

Three other IVI RMA studies were also recognized at the ASRM congress, placing the company among the winners of the first two awards for best work, the second being for best poster and the Nutrition Special Interest Group (SIG) award. These investigations addressed the need for greater standardization in preimplantation genetic testing, the impact of premature progesterone peaks during ovarian stimulation on IVF outcomes, and the role of nutritional interventions on fertility treatment outcomes.

Three of the four papers were led by physicians and specialty training specialists from the Jefferson-RMA Fellowship program, associated with IVI RMA, who train the next generation of reproductive endocrinologists. “This recognition by the sector is an example of the cutting-edge nature of our research together with partners such as Juno, a world leader in embryonic genetic diagnosis, within our global network of research centers. In them, we address the most relevant issues in reproductive medicine with a scale and effectiveness that is difficult to match,” said Dr. Juan A. García-Velasco, Global Chief Scientific Officer of IVI RMA Global. “This award reinforces our commitment to science, which will make assisted reproductive medicine more effective and accessible for individuals and families around the world.”

With five international research centers, more than 500 clinical researchers, and 240 peer-reviewed publications in 2024 alone, IVI RMA continues to lead scientific innovation in reproductive medicine with the goal of improving patient care. The award-winning work, titled ‘Investigating the Reproductive Potential of Non-Mosaic Segmental Aneuploidy: A Double-Blinded, Multicenter Non-Selection Study Of 176 Single Frozen Embryo Transfers’, was presented by Dr. Stephanie Willson, a physician at IVI RMA Global Research Alliance and graduate of the Jefferson-RMA Fellowship (Class of 2025). Authors include Amber Kaplun (MS, IVI RMA America), David Ferrando, Yiping Zhan (PhD), Xin Tao (PhD), Emily Mounts (MS), Antonio Capalbo (PhD), Chaim Jalas (Juno Genetics), and Richard T. Scott (MD, Foundation for Embryonic Competence).

It was also announced during the conference that Denny Sakkas, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer of Boston IVF, received the 2025 ASRM Distinguished Investigator Award, one of the most prestigious honors in reproductive medicine, for his pioneering research on sperm DNA damage, fertilization, early embryonic development, and male infertility.
