Two people, oncology patients in the Burgos University Hospital (HUBU), have died due to an error in a treatment while receiving it in the Oncology area of the Burgos complex.
The error in the treatment preparation has meant the death of two patients and has affected three others, of which one of them is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
This has been confirmed by the delegate of the Board in Burgos, Roberto Saizwhich has regretted the death of these “two people”, and has indicated that a human error has occurred in the preparation of the treatment that has also affected “to three other” patients.
As confirmed by HUBU sources, the events occurred during the Christmas holidays, during the preparation of a dose. The Hospital Management itself assumes this failure as “the hospital’s own” after affecting a total of five people who received the treatment.
Of those affected, one is in the ICUanother of the patients is already on the HUBU ward and another has been discharged.
From the HUBU it is already “an internal investigation has been opened” and the delegate of the Board in Burgos, although the matter is being handled by “the Ministry of Health” which will now seek to clarify what has happened.
