He Villalba General University Hospital –public hospital of the Community of Madrid– has added three new endorsements to its balance of results in certain areas and clinical processes upon receiving the Top 20 Award in the ‘Global Hospital Management’ categoryin addition to two other areas, in the XXVI edition of the Top20 programwhich Iqvia has awarded every year for more than a quarter of a century to recognize good practices in the hospital sector based on specialty areas and criteria of excellence.

Specifically, in this year’s edition of the awards, in which 190 hospitals in the Spanish public-private network from numerous autonomous communities, and whose presentation was celebrated yesterday in Madrid, bringing together numerous representatives from the entire health ecosystem of our country, the Villalbino hospital received a total of three awards that recognize its hospital excellence and were collected by the corresponding managers of the areas involved.

Among the recognitions granted to General de Villalba, the Top 20 Award in the category of ‘Global Hospital Management’, within the group of ‘Large public hospitals’, which was collected by Marta del Olmo, territorial manager of the hospital; Dr. Jorge Short, deputy territorial manager; and Dr. Ignacio Maestre, manager.

Iqvia also recognized the Villalbino hospital with the Top 20 Award in the area of ‘Respiratory’, which was collected by Dr. Ana Retegui, specialist at the Pulmonology Service; Natalia Rodríguez, Auxiliary Nursing Care Technician (TCAE) of the same service; and Dr. Maestre.

Likewise, the doctor Jose Emilio Hernandez and Alicia Roldanhead and nurse, respectively, of the Urology Service, together with Dr. Maestre, received the Top 20 award in the ‘Kidney and Urinary Tract’ Area at the level of ‘Hospitals with medical nephrology’.

The General University Hospital of Villalba has won the three Top 20 awards, standing out among the 190 participating hospitalspublic and private, from different autonomous communities, among which the most advanced and efficient have been recognized, based on their size and management, in 11 areas. These are the aforementioned ‘Respiratory’ and ‘Kidney and Urinary Tracts’, along with ‘Musculoskeletal’, ‘Nervous System’, ‘Heart’, ‘Pediatrics’, ‘Women’, ‘Hospital Costs’, ‘Digestive’, ‘Critical Patient Care’ and ‘Emergencies’ – these last two specialties in which the Villalbino hospital has also been a finalist –, in addition of ‘Global Hospital Management’.

According to the organization, this program is based on objective indicators obtained from information extracted from the basic minimum set of data that all centers report about hospitalized patients, and in which public and private hospitals participate on a free, voluntary and anonymous basis; a comparison process in which the centers are not evaluated together, but are analyzed based on the establishment of levels according to their size and degree of specialization.

The General University Hospital of Villalba is a public health center integrated into el Madrid Health Service (Sermas) that offers health care in more than 30 medical and surgical specialties, and with equipment of the highest health technology, to approximately 124,000 inhabitants of the northwest of the Community of Madrid. Specifically, to the residents of Collado Villalba, Alpedrete, Moralzarzal, Cercedilla, Navacerrada, Los Molinos, Becerril de la Sierra and Collado Mediano, although any Madrid resident who wishes can choose this hospital through Free Choice.

Its healthcare infrastructure offers more than 200 individual rooms and equipment of the highest health technology such as a CT scan, two MRIs, a hemodynamics room, a nuclear medicine room with a gamma camera and 12 pieces of equipment for the digital radiology and medical imaging rooms (with, among others, two mammographs and four ultrasound machines). The hospital is also equipped with 12 ICU positions, 85 emergency rooms, 47 Day Hospital positions, nine operating rooms, two dilation rooms, four delivery rooms, 94 consultations and examination rooms and 18 hemodialysis positions, among others.
