The National Social Security Institute (INSS) has published a Practical Guide that details the essential steps to obtain the certificate accrediting the right to healthcare.

This official document has become a frequent requirement to carry out various procedures before the Public Health Services of the Autonomous Communities.

Who and how is the right recognized?

1. Identification: National Identity Document (DNI) for those over 14 years of age. If you do not have an ID, a valid passport or identification document from the country of origin is required.

2. Identification for foreigners: Citizens of the EU, EEA or Switzerland must present the certificate of registration in the Central Register of Foreigners. For the rest of the countries, a valid Foreigner Identity Card (TIE) is required, which proves the residence authorization in Spain.

3. Family accreditation: Documents such as the Family Book or certificates from the Civil Registry that demonstrate the relationship with the insured.

• With digital certificate, permanent Cl@ve or via SMS: Through the electronic headquarters of Social Security or through the service Your Social Security (TUSS).
